In building teamwork, I work with the leader to assess the situation, sit in on several meetings, help the leader get the team past specific hurdles, and in some cases work with individuals directly.
The goal is to get the team focused on the positive and focused on the task at full strength.
Empowering the team leader, changing obstructive team dynamics, and focusing and freeing up the strengths of every team member is key to this work.
Sometimes that can get handled in a few meetings, or over a month or two. Sometimes it’s best to take a day or two in a structured retreat and get a new foundation built, repair the existing foundation, or launch a new trajectory. I've been working with corporate teams for 30 years, and I teach this stuff at the doctoral level – it's a lifelong passion.
